| [NEWS] ６月１１日?１３日までオレゴン州ポートランドにある日本庭園パビリオンで“いけばな”インスタレーションを制作。 この庭園はアメリカ１０傑に入るといわれる素晴らしい庭園である。 、、折しも、ポートランドではローズフェスティバルが開催されており、それと同時にポートランド草月支部が“いけばな展”を同じ日本庭園で開催したのである。 私も招待作家として日本庭園側が提供してくれた場所（パビリオン内）で２０メートル以上はあろうという“いけばな”を制作し、いけばな展に花を添えた。 花材は草月会員の助けで採集、また日本庭園からも多くの花材の提供があり、初夏の花材にローズフェスティバルに因んでバラを取り入れた“いけばなインスタレーション”となった。 ポートランド ジャパニーズガーデン キューレターのダイアンさん始めお世話になった皆さんに心から感謝！！ From June 11 to 13, I did an ikebana installation at the Pavilion of the Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon. This is a wonderful garden and is considered one of the ten most important gardens in America. At the same time, Portland celebrated its annual Rose Festival and the Portland Sogetsu Branch held an ikebana exhibition at the Japanese Garden. I was the invited artist and the Garden offered me a place in the Pavilion. My work was more than 20 meters in length and it gave the ikebana exhibition a special grandeur. Sogetsu members helped me gather material and also the staff of the Japanese Garden provided a lot of branches gathered from their early summer pruning. Because this was the Rose Festival, I used a lot of roses in the installation. To the Portland Japanese Garden curator, Diane Durston, and all the other members of the staff who helped me so much, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. ２０１１年８月 ノースキャロライナにあるミント ミュージアムから竹インスタレーションの要望。 ９月にはデンバー ボタニックガーデンの下見、これは２０１２年の竹インスタレーション制作予定の為。 In August next year, the Mint Museum of Charlotte North Carolina has asked me to do an installation as part of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Museum and also as part of the year-long opening celebration of the museum’s new building housing the craft and design collections. I will post my sketches and a picture of the maquette later on….so please wait and see. In September this year, I will be visiting
Denver Colorado to discuss doing a bamboo installation at the Denver Botanic
Garden in 2012. I will look at the place and see how I might do a creation
there. |
